Advertising can become expensive if you let it, but there are many alternative ways to advertise your business without "breaking the bank" you just have to be creative. Starting or maintaining your own business is difficult enough without worrying about the costs of advertising so I'm going to give you a few ideas to promote your business without dipping to far into your savings.

Cost Effective Advertising

Bulletin Boards Using community bulletin boards are a great way to promote your business without spending any money. Grocery Stores, Coffee Houses, Churches, City Halls, and any other place you can think of to post a flyer about your business helps get the word out. The more high traffic the better! Tips: 1. Use color. Using color on your flyers will increase readership. 2. Use a border around your flyer. Using a border will improve the overall appearance of your flyer. 3. Make it easy for the reader to get your contact info. Using a perforated bottom with your name, phone number, and website info is a real simple way to help distribute that information.

Magnetic Signage This is a great way to increase awareness of your business. You can place magnetic signs on your car, truck or van that informs people on how they can contact you to inquire about your products or service. By

using magnetic signs you are pretty much driving a billboard for your business that is pretty inexpensive. Most sign companies will print a magnetic sign for your car for around $50 - $60 and they will typically discount the rate if you purchase two or more. Tips: 1. Don't try to say too much! It can be difficult to read while driving. 2. Pick one or maybe two font styles. This will make the overall appearance look cleaner. 3. Include your business name, phone number, and website info.

Business Cards Business cards are fantastic for generating business. They make it easy to distribute your business information to potential customers at any time since you can always keep them on you. They are also great to give out to friends and family so they can give them to people who are interested in your business. There are many services out there right now that offer business card printing for very little money. VistaPrint is a great company to use. Tips: 1. Always keep at least a dozen business cards on you at all times. You never know when having one might come in handy. 2. Ask local businesses like your dentist, interior designers, etc. if you can leave business cards there. 3. Always give your business card out with customer purchases. This will help generate repeat business and help satisfied customers spread word-of-mouth about you.
